About Us
4 Generations of Excellence
1931: Valentine Rausch joined Columbia Granite, Co., a quarry and retail monument sales company owned by Dewey Kaddatz and Roy Steiner. Val worked as a salesman and office manager.

1934: Val became a partner to Roy Steiner by purchasing Dewey Kaddatz share of Columbia Granite, Co. They company was renamed Steiner-Rausch Granite Co.

1948: Val's sons, Norbert, Severin, Herman, and Eugene Rausch, took over the retail portion of the granite company. This company was named Rausch Brothers Granite Co. Along with monument retail, Rausch Brothers Granite operated a granite slab sawing shop. With this equipment they were able to saw blocks of granite from the Steiner-Rausch quarry and sell to other companies.
1961: Herman brought his granite expertise and experience to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Here in Rapid City, he opened Rausch Monuments, a monument retail company. Rausch Monuments continues to work closely with Rausch Brothers Granite Company.
1970: Rausch Monuments purchased a property at 2020 Jackson Blvd. This property was later purchased and converted into a strip mall, which housed Rausch Monuments store front for several years.

1985: Herman's eldest son, Chuck Rausch, took over operation of Rausch Monuments.
2005: Rausch Monuments moved to 1116 Jackson Blvd. This new location gave Rausch Monuments a beautiful showroom, to showcase monuments. This showroom also houses Rausch Granite Products, the Rausch's second company, selling granite countertops and fireplace surrounds. In the back of this space is a full production monument shop. Here they design, layout and sandblast each custom made monument.
